Work to fill the catalog of names of settlements of the Republic of Tatarstan is underway
Specialists of the State Budgetary Institution Space Data Fund of the Republic of Tatarstan collect and clarify the names of settlements in the languages of the peoples of the Russian Federation in relation to geographical objects of the Republic of Tatarstan located on the territory of their compact residence.
Initially, according to the results of the 2010 census, settlements with a large population of other nationalities of the Russian Federation were identified. At the moment, after receiving responses from the municipal districts of the Republic of Tajikistan, the number of such a population and its composition are being specified so that when compiling a catalog of the names of settlements, the wishes of all the peoples living in the settlement are taken into account.
After collecting the primary information, the names will be sent to the academies of sciences and ministries of other entities to verify the information received. Work also continues on the search for names of geographical objects (rivers, mountains, lakes, etc.) in the Tatar language.
It should be noted that these works are carried out within the framework of the state task of the State Budgetary Institution Spatial Data Fund of Republic of Tatarstan on the creation and maintenance of an electronic catalog of names of geographical objects of the Republic of Tatarstan.
