Amendments were made to the Federal Law "On the turnover of agricultural land"

On December 29, 2022, the President signed Federal Law No. 639-FZ “On Amendments to the Federal Law “On the Turnover of Agricultural Land”.

The federal law improves the legal regulation of relations relating to the turnover of shares in the right of common ownership of a land plot from agricultural land (land shares). The definition of the concept of "unclaimed land share" is clarified and the features of the turnover of unclaimed land shares are established.

In particular, it provides for the right of the local government until January 1, 2025 to apply to the court with a request to recognize the right of municipal ownership of unclaimed land shares. It has been established that from January 1, 2025, a person whose land share is recognized as unclaimed loses the right of ownership to such a land share and the right of municipal property arises on it.

In addition, the Federal Law regulates the inheritance of land shares.

In addition, editorial inaccuracies are eliminated, including in order to bring certain legal norms in line with the norms of the Federal Law “On State Registration of Real Estate”.
