30 March 2023, Thursday

A new project "Volga Trail" has been launched in Tatarstan - a hiking trail with a length of 350 kilometers. The trail will run along the right bank of the Volga from the borders with the Ulyanovsk region to the Chuvash Republic with an additional section in Kazan.

The presentation of the project was presented by the Directorate for the Development of Natural Territories and Ecotourism of the Institute for Urban Development of the Republic of Tatarstan in the lecture hall of the Presence of Places of the Kazan Kremlin Museum-Reserve.

The route of the trail will connect 5 municipal districts, more than 100 cultural heritage sites and 26 specially protected natural areas. Those who wish can choose the route to their taste - from short walks for a couple of hours to weekend tours and longer hikes. Experienced travelers will be able to complete this route in 12-14 days. The trail will be fully or partially accessible 9 months a year.

A special mobile application will help you get directions and navigate on the spot. It is already available for Android and iOS devices.

Oksana Sargina, Head of the Department for the Development of Natural Territories and Ecotourism of the Foundation "Institute for the Development of Towns of the Republic of Tatarstan", expressed her gratitude to the administrations of the districts along which the route was laid, and to the departments of the republic, including the Ministry of Land and Property of the Republic of Tatarstan for joint operational work in the development of this project .
